Architect Riken Yamamoto received the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2024, often referred to as the Nobel Prize of Architecture. Yamamoto has consistently questioned the relationship between architecture, community, and local society, which exists between private life and the state. The chair of the Pritzker Prize jury this year, Alejandro Aravena, based in Chile, is also a former winner (2016) and is known for his housing projects for low-income populations. The Pritzker Prize seems to be shifting toward an emphasis on "social art" in its evaluation.
